Blood on our Hands - Death From Above 1979 |

Blood on our Hands is by far the best Death From Above song.

One Hundred Years - The Cure |
] |
Bought The Satallite Years by Hopesfall today. It's a bit boring, but
it really is the bridge between emo and hardcore so at times it's
interesting to listen to. The best song just sounds like The Bled, so
next time I think I'll just listen to Pass the Flask.
On Friday I'm buying a vinyl player, and ordering a Rapt. Dept. promo disc from ebay (YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO).
Tomorrow is a History exam, and I really need to finish my revision now.

I Bleed - The Pixies |
] |
Fook me Maths was hard today! But I found it easier than I found the mock so hopefully I've passed. I've really got to get Maths at a c grade. Tomorrow is my second English Lit paper, should be a piece of piss.
Yesterday I bought Want One by Rufus Wainwright on CD, a best of Joy
Division compilation on CD, Rapt. Dept. EP by YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO on
white vinyl (I already have the CD but they pwn so I'll take all you've
got), and Nature Boy single by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on 7".
Want One is good but Want Two pisses all over it. I still haven't
watched the DVD though, apparently it's a full length concert worth
which is cool :)

GCSEs next week so not much internet so not much Livejournal.
I'm just kicking back tonight though, listening to vinyl and surfing the nay.
I discovered earlier that listening to The Cure and thinking about Maz isn't all that good a combination.
I really really like Rufus Wainwright.

The Shape of Punk to Come - The Refused |

I've finished school. No more lessons. Ever. Tis weird, cos school's just everything to a sixteen year old - there's nothing else. We did nothing all day except sign each other, man t'was fun! I am gonna miss some of those people, definately.
But but but we have our leavers ceremony tomorrow morning, then the prom in the evening and finally, the after party at midnight :D I know that the prom sucks a fat one but I'm still pretty excited, my suit is the shit! I'm taking a camera and I will (I know I always say it, but I actually will) post pics up. I can't wait, it's gonna own.

The new album is good, but something nags on my mind telling me they're running out of ideas lyrics wise. The first album was so violent and passionate, and that's faded over time. Their sound does sound good when it's polished up though, so I think Toxicity is probably the best album.

Banbury Town - EXP |
] |
Last night was the most enjoyable night I've had in a long, long time.
I backcombed my hair into a massive afro too :D
Highlights:
- I got really really wankered on Stella Artois and Carling
- The venue gave all the bands FREE BEER!!!!!!
- I met a great kid in a band called overture and played the organ with him
- I got reeeeaaaally stoned. Twice
- Everyone was down the front for us :) TTK and Fisher were pitting as well
- For the fial song I threw my bass on the floor and jumped onto a
monitor. When I sprung off it it went in the opposite direction almost
killing someone. Fun times, fun times
- The pits for TTK and EXP were immense, I'm really bruised now
- I did fucking loads of skanking
- I was skanking to a band called Lethal Peach and I met this girl who I got, ahem, friendly with
- The venue gave us loads of peanuts. Bags and bags of them. Peanut fights ensued
- Luke from EXP played on the organ backstage for half an hour
straight, just jamming with himself against the programmed drumbeat.
When he eventually stopped someone shouted "Encore!" and he was straight back on it
- After the headlining band (who were shit) I met a girl with very
nice nails and got, ahem, friendly with her too (yeah, I'm a bit of a
manslag). I got her number so I think I'll invite her down to the all
day festival in Banbury on the 29th.
- Harlette were shit apparently :) Maybe this is bitchy but gutted,
I'm glad. They were originally supposed to be opening but complained,
so we were moved down. They didn't watch us. Maz got angry because I
wouldn't lend her my bass amp - MY BASS AMP WASN'T IN THE FUCKING
ROOM/BUILDING/TOWN/COUNTY FOR FUCK'S SAKE, what am I supposed to do, go
home and get it for you?!!?
Anyhoo, that was my night.

A Perfect Teenhood - ...Trail of Dead |
] |
I went for my college interview today. I've got a conditional placement, conditional on me getting about 23957 GCSEs at A quadrupal star.
I was the shabbyist person waiting to be interviewed by far. All of the these posh private school nerds were around me in suits and shit, and I was sat there in jeans and a Mars Volta tshirt. The interviewer didn't like me I don't think, "Are you lazy Jacob?" HOW THE FUCK AM I MEANT TO ANSWER THAT!?
Basically I've got to revise a lot if I'm gonna get into college. I need to get an A in History to get into that class. I can have something like one c and all b's if I'm to get in. This sucks a fat one.

Pig Latin - The Dillinger Escape Plan |
] |
Million Dead was fantastic. They played mainly new stuff but of the old: Breaking of the Back, I am the Party, The Rise and Fall, Charlie and the Propaganda Myth Machine, Pornography for Cowards. The new guitarist was really impressive too.
In the day I bought Madonna by ...Trail of Dead and Irony is a Dead Scene by The Dillinger Escape Plan (I must say that I'm now in love with Mike Patton). We eventually had nothing to do so went up to the venue TWO HOURS(!!!!!!!!!!!) before the gig. We froze our tits off.
Inside the venue I bought a Million Dead T-shirt from Julia and got her to sign my Song To Ruin CD sleeve. Engerica were really good so I bought a Tshirt from their front guy too.
Oh oh! I got the mic treatment! Again! At the end of The Rise and Fall, Frank grabbed the back of my head and pushed his forehead into mine while we sang the line "I always heard better in the dark." Really really really enjoyed last night :D
(p.s. I'm cutting all my hair off in the half term (three weeks away). I'll post a pic later this week of how long it is now as most of you fo's don't actually know.)

I've just managed to create a hilariously pathetic and yet strangely cool one pedal effects rig for my bass. Explanation and photos tomorrow.

Regular John - Queens of the Stone Age |
] |
You can always tell people who are into music for the fashion when they tell you on their myspace profile that they're really into their music. 99 times out of a 100 someone who says that will have Taking Back Sunday / Alexisonfire / My Chemical Romance / accompanying emo bands in their music section. Also applies to people who set their names as 'My Music Isn't a Fashion Statement'. I laugh at them and their suck.
Yeah, and EXP are the band of the moment.
